Matt Braybrook – Head Instructor, Freestyle Combat Academy

With over 30 years of martial arts experience, Matt Braybrook is the driving force behind Freestyle Combat Academy. A seasoned martial artist and dedicated instructor, Matt brings a unique blend of traditional discipline and modern combat knowledge to every class.

He holds a 1st Dan Black Belt in Karate, a 5th Dan Black Belt in Kickboxing, and is a certified Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, making him one of the most well-rounded and respected instructors in the field.

Matt’s teaching style reflects his passion for the martial arts—focused, technical, and empowering. Whether you’re a complete beginner or an experienced fighter, Matt’s expertise and guidance will help you develop your skills, confidence, and mindset both on and off the mat.

At Freestyle Combat Academy, Matt’s mission is clear: to build stronger individuals through martial arts, in a safe, supportive, and disciplined environment.

Jack Cox – NO-GI BJJ COACH

Jack Cox leads the No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program at Freestyle Combat Academy, bringing with him 8 years of dedicated experience on the mats. A BJJ Purple Belt, Jack is known for his technical precision, fluid movement, and ability to break down complex techniques into practical, real-world application.

Passionate about the No-Gi style, Jack creates a dynamic and focused training environment that caters to both newcomers and experienced grapplers. His classes emphasize positional control, submission chains, and adaptability—essential elements for anyone looking to improve their ground game.

With a strong commitment to his students’ progression and a deep love for the sport, Jack plays a key role in developing the next generation of grapplers at Freestyle Combat Academy.

Katie Braybrook – Welfare Officer and Receptionist

Katie is the friendly face that welcomes you to Freestyle Combat Academy. As our Welfare Officer and Receptionist, she plays a vital role in supporting both our members and the team. Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a long-time student, Katie is always on hand to help, answer questions, and ensure everyone feels safe, supported, and part of the FCA family.

Katie is also an active member of the academy herself, regularly training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Her passion for the sport carries over into the kids’ classes, where she assists with coaching and brings great energy, patience, and encouragement to every session.

With her approachable nature and commitment to the wellbeing of our community, Katie helps make Freestyle Combat Academy a welcoming space for everyone.
